Yes, another safari
Today we depart for another national park, this time in Botswana. After Karongwe, we flew to Victoria Falls for our final adventure, a walking tour of Victoria Falls. Of the largest waterfalls in the world, Iguazu Falls in Argentina / Brazil, Niagara Falls in US / Canada and, Victoria Falls Zambia/Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls comes in second when measured by height and width; Iguazu Falls is the largest when measured by length coming in at ~2 miles long.
We’ll take our walk to the falls tomorrow, today we head out for another game drive (our 6th game drive of this trip).
Just like the brochure stated, we were picked up at our hotel 7:30am, sharp. What wasn’t clearly stated in the brochure was the 2hr processing time at the Botswana border. Possibly the most inefficient, time-wasting bunch of unhappy people on Earth! No one was happy about having a job that paid good money and all you had to do was move your arms and head. Too much for these people who viewed tourists as a pain in the ass, except when you handed over your $50USD.
By the time we arrived at the game reserve, we had spent 3 hours driving and dealing with inept border people. I guess this would not be on my “recommended” list for future travelers.
At the park, we did see quite a few elephants, some Cape buffaloes, a few hippos, some giraffes, couple of lions / lionesses, an African antelope, and banded mongoose – cute. And, just like Kruger, herds of safari vehicles surrounding animal sightings. At one sighting I counted 12 vehicles with at least 6 people in each vehicle crowding around 4 lions.
Here are a few pics from our time in Botswana.
