I bless the rains down in Africa…

Once again…

17.5. What’s up with that number? That’s the number of hours our butts were on a plane to go from Denver, Colorado to Cape Town, South Africa, not counting time spent in the airport waiting for our flights.

All-in-all it wasn’t that bad. We were seated in United Economy Premier Plus which is pretty close to Delta Comfort Class, two seats so no climbing over anyone, sleep kit, decent meals, seats that recline (somewhat).

Flights were uneventful. Arrived in Cape Town right on schedule and made our way to the Immigration desk. 3-minutes later, off to Customs and our luggage. Then the real challenge, getting thru all the posers for Uber, taxis, buses, etc.  Not sure why governments allow this bullshit, but they do. Anyway, weaved our way thru them and found our Uber. $6USD for the 30-minute ride to the waterfront where our Airbnb apartment was located. Home for the next 3 days!

Dropped our bags and headed out for the grocery store. Jon and Paula Wright will be joining us in about an hour so we need to get some food for breakfast and adult drinks, then head back before they arrive. Prices are lower than the states and everything is in South African currency, the “rand”, which converts as 200 rand equals $12.30USD. Once the Wright’s make it here we’ll have a few drinks then head off to dinner. Tons of restaurants are located here so shouldn’t be a problem finding something to eat.

Or Mexican

On our agenda while were in Cape Town is a day of relaxation (today), an all-day private wine tasting tour (tomorrow), and a ride up to the top of Table Mountain.
