Gotha (not Gotham) Germany

Collette arrived early so off to Brussels, via train, to spend the night. We collect our car first thing tomorrow and then head off to Gotha, Germany. Long day of driving, 6 hours, so early start and a tiring day to look forward to. But that’s just the start, the next day will be another long drive, 7 hours, to get to Grudziadz, Poland. Pronounced just as its spelled.

Instead of staying in Gdansk with the other 478K people, we decide to stay in a small town about 1.5 hours from Westerplatte, the site of our first WW,Too attraction. Not to spoil it but Westerplatte is where WW2 started. Those shits, the Nazi’s, fired on the town after a faked insurgent attack. The first shots of WW2. More on that later.

Early morning for breakfast then met our ride to the car lease agency. Really is a first class operation. If you are staying in Europe for 22 days, you’re eligible to lease a brand new car from Peugeot or Citroen. This is a brand new car, less than 35km on the odometer, 0 deductible insurance, multi-drivers included. Also comes with full roadside assistance. Ours is a new Citroen C4 (not the explosive), air, all the new driver aids like lane assist, auto-braking, etc. GPS that’s Bluetooth compatible so you can hook up your phone. All the bells and whistles. Nice car.

Citroen C4 (is that French for “lemon”?)

The rep went through all the features and functions of the car, discussed the local laws in the countries we plan to visit, signed the contract and we’re off! Next stop, Gotha and our Aparthotel.
