One awesome week in London
I could walk through each day and bore you with every tidbit of information on the sites and events of London, but I won’t. London, England has hundreds of sites to see but we only have 1 week so the number has been skinnied down. For this week’s adventure, here’s the itinerary:
Day 2: The Dungeon Experience, Thames Cruise to London Tower, Pub lunch, London Tower Tour & The Crown Jewels.
Day 3: Changing of the Guard, The London Eye, Pub lunch, Westminster Abbey, Climb Big Ben Tour (334 stairs!)
Day 4: Warner Bros. Studio Tour of Harry Potter film set
Day 5: Train to Windsor Castle, Windsor Castle Tour, Pub lunch
Day 6: Royal Guards Museum Tour, Harrod’s lunch / shopping, Double-Decker Bus Tour with Afternoon Tea and Pastries
Day 7: Return Home (Collette to escort the grandkids back to Denver – Collette returns to Europe the next day to meet me in Amsterdam)
Should be sufficient to keep the grandkids interested and moving. And it should be about all that Nana and Papa can do in 1 week!
All-in-all, everything worked out and we managed to pull this off without any major issues. Of course there was the occasional “should we go this way or that way”, but nothing that got us lost or out of our way.
The kids were great. A little drama about getting up early but that soon wore off and we were all enjoying the day. The biggest question, would we do it again? Absolutely! This was something they will remember forever, and they learned a few things along the way. Just ask Jaidynn what’s the difference between Romanesque and Gothic architecture, or what a ribbed-arched Gothic ceiling looks like. Or ask London how many cars there are on the London Eye.
Someone once said, “The world is a book. If you don’t travel, you’ve only read one page.”
On to page three…
